Beamreach Solar – Taking a Solar Brand Out of Stealth

In the crowded solar energy market, solar cell and PV technology startup, Beamreach Solar (formerly Solexel) sought to show up big after operating in stealth mode for more than eight years. Solexel hired Hotwire’s Digital Brand Lab to develop and implement a compelling brand and go to market strategy for their big launch at InterSolar Europe.

Role: Design + Strategy
Agency: Hotwire
Year: 2016

The Task

Ready to come out from stealth mode after many years of R&D and financial investment, Beamreach’s (then called Solexel) reintroduction to the industry was high stakes. The task at hand: build a brand that spoke directly to commercial roof installers and profit-first retailers, positioning the company as a disruptive technology alternative.

The Approach

The Approach

Our competitive audit made it clear that the solar market was not only crowded, but also a sea of sameness when it came to visual identity. Suns, yellows, greens – literal representations of solar and green energy. To stand out, we introduced a powerful new color to the space: purple, paired with strong angular accents to represent our brand promise of breakthrough results.

The Results

The Results

With a bold and confident new brand, Beamreach Solar was ready to break through solar barriers as they made their big debut at Intersolar North America. Not only did their reintroduction generate media hits and spikes in web traffic, but also awarded them “Most Buzzworthy” at said event. Now that’s how you make an entrance!
